Abstrak :

The research results show that not every business actor responsible for giving compensation to consumer who suffer a loss from damaged packaged food and beverage products. The reason for not giving any compensation is their lack of legal awareness to perform their legal responsibility, which is against Article 1365 of the Civil Code jo. Article 19 of the Law of Consumer Protection. However, some business actors have been compliant to this Law by giving compensation in the performs of replacing the damaged products of paying out some money if the consumers get sick due to consuming the product. Immaterial losses in the consumer side such as disappointment, upset, and so on are never calculated by the management or owner of supermarket. The research recommended that the quality of selling or service by the supermarket owner or management improved under the government control to make sure that the Law of Consumer Protection is dully applied. And also, knowledge on the Law of Consumer Protection needs to be improved so that both business actor and consumers are aware of their rights and responsibility.
